The Russian company RN-Yuganskneftegaz (a subsidiary of PJSC NK Rosneft) conducted 1,328 hydraulic fracturing operations (fracking - a method of increasing oil or gas production from a well) in one month. This was reported by the press service of Rosneft.
The number of hydraulic fracturing operations is a third more than usual. The record was made possible thanks to precise engineering solutions, the development of corporate oilfield services and a team of professionals.
The company emphasized that, thanks to innovative drilling methods and the use of mobile pipelines, the flow rate of new wells (the volume of oil that steadily flows from a well per unit of time) has more than doubled.
What is Hydraulic Fracturing?
Fluid is pumped into the well under high pressure, which creates fractures in the oil and gas reservoir and ensures the flow of hydrocarbons. Proppant is also added to the fluid - special granules to fix the fractures. Fracking is used in the development of new oil reservoirs, as well as for extracting oil from wells where production is impossible by other methods.
