Gorky Automobile Plant has released a new modification of the "Gazelle NN" with an extra-long wheelbase — 4245 mm. This is a record for the family: the previous longest version had a base of 3745 mm, meaning the new "Gazelle" has been stretched by almost half a meter.
Along with the extended frame, the vehicle received a reinforced rear suspension to improve stability and reliability under load.
According to company representatives, the demand for such vehicles is small but stable. Previously, customers had to turn to private companies that independently lengthened the chassis. Now, GAZ offers a factory version that fully complies with technical standards and safety requirements.
Due to the increased body length, the production process had to be restructured. The assembly of the new "Gazelle NN" takes place in two stages: first, the vehicle is assembled on the main conveyor, then extenders for the spars and adjacent units are installed in a separate area. This allowed maintaining production efficiency and quality control.
