Yakutia will expand its drone delivery program, which has already proven highly effective in remote settlements. The decision was approved by the head of "Russian Post," the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, reported on Telegram.
An agreement on the development of postal services was signed by Nikolaev and the company's CEO, Mikhail Volkov. It is planned to renovate five branches, as well as further introduce drones for the transportation of correspondence and cargo.
Yakutia has demonstrated a successful experience in using drones. This format has proven its effectiveness and will now be further developed
The first drone delivery experience took place in 2024 in the Gorny district. A package with medicines and correspondence was delivered from the village of Berdigestyakh to the village of Keptin, a distance of 150 km, in an hour and a half, while road transport took 6–9 hours to cover this distance. Residents of the remote village received the packages intact, which confirmed the practical value of the technology.
Yakutia is the largest region in Russia in terms of territory, with more than 400 post offices.
