The first footage of tests of a promising small-sized combat laser complex for countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has appeared online. The complex was developed by the company "Laboratories PPSh".
We are talking about a fiber optic laser with a power of 5 to 10 kW. The system is capable of hitting Rubaka kamikaze drones of the aircraft type and small copters at a distance of 1.5-2 km.
The turret is equipped with a thermal imaging sighting system with an LCD indicator for displaying infrared images of heat-contrast targets. The laser module with an optical system is shielded with a protective casing.
Apparently, the novelty is capable of "dropping birds" by directly burning through the engine nacelles of the electric motor and glider. More accurate technical characteristics of the installation in "Laboratories PPSh" were not given.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the fiber optic FPV drone "Zanoza" developed by the "Groza" project hits 80% of targets.
