The Venezuelan armed forces have deployed one of the Russian-made Buk-M2E anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) in the Caracas area. The footage appeared on social networks.
According to open sources, the systems were also spotted on a hill along the western approaches to the city, near the coastal corridor of Caracas, and at La Carlota airfield.
The Buk-M2 is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other aerodynamic objects. The kill zone reaches 25 km in altitude and 45–50 km in range.
The SAM is capable of simultaneously tracking and engaging multiple targets. The complex includes launcher-loader units (LLU), self-propelled firing units (SFU), and 9M317 anti-aircraft guided missiles.
The system also implements a mode for engaging ground targets using radio correction mode.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the manufacturer of the S-500 Prometey SAM system demanded almost 300 million rubles from the Saratov Aggregate Plant.
