The Venezuelan armed forces have deployed one of the Russian-made Buk-M2E anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) in the Caracas area. The footage appeared on social networks.
According to open sources, the systems were also spotted on a hill along the western approaches to the city, near the coastal corridor of Caracas, and at La Carlota airfield.
The Buk-M2 is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other aerodynamic objects. The kill zone reaches 25 km in altitude and 45-50 km in range.
The SAM is capable of simultaneously tracking and engaging multiple targets. The complex includes launcher-loader units (LLU), self-propelled firing units (SFU), and 9M317 anti-aircraft guided missiles.
The system also implements a mode for engaging ground targets using radio correction mode.
Earlier,www1.ru reported thatthe manufacturer of the S-500 Prometey SAM system demanded almost 300 million rubles from the Saratov Aggregate Plant.
