Advanced technologies for the production of key components of the VK-650V helicopter engine implemented in Rostec

Specialists of UEC-Saturn (part of the United Engine Corporation, Rostec State Corporation) have developed and implemented innovative technologies that ensure the start of serial production of the main components of the promising VK-650V helicopter engine.

As part of the modernization of the machine park, advanced computer-controlled machines were installed at the enterprise, which made it possible to bring most of the production operations to a new level. The developed exclusive control programs for this equipment have already passed strict certification and have proven their effectiveness, meeting the highest industry requirements. Specialized equipment designed for precision machining of small products is used for the manufacture of VK-650V parts.

One of the main components that UEC-Saturn manufactures and assembles is the gearbox. It transmits torque from the engine to the main rotor and auxiliary units. The unit consists of many high-tech parts, including gears, bearing housings and elements of the engine oil system.

In addition, the company produces the first support housing for the VK-650V. It is made from a solid cast blank, the processing of which takes eight to nine weeks and includes several hundred operations. They are mainly performed on numerically controlled turning lathes and using five-axis machining centers. The quality of the first support housing directly affects the operation of the compressor, as it ensures uniform distribution of the incoming air flow.
