Using UAVs and BECs: New ways to deliver ballots to voters appear in Russia

Head of the CEC Pamfilova: We are looking for ways to make voting convenient and accessible

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia has tested various ways to deliver ballots to voters for voting in elections in a pilot mode. This was announced by the head of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova, at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

We are now working with Bureau 1440 to introduce remote voting where there is no Internet, that is, using satellite communications. We are now launching a pilot project.

This method helps solve many problems, Pamfilova added.

According to her, 36 regions in Russia have the status of hard-to-reach. But the state is doing everything so that "reindeer herder, sailor and polar explorer" have the opportunity to cast their vote in the elections. Therefore, the CEC "is looking for new ways to make voting convenient and accessible."

We had several pilot projects: ballots and documentation were delivered using UAVs and unmanned boats.
