"Ural Steel" successfully fought off claims from Vyksa Steel Works. The latter accused the partner of disrupting the supply of blanks for wheelsets of wagons.
Losses were estimated at 6.4 billion rubles, and a fine of 312 million rubles. The Arbitration Court of the Moscow District closed both cases. The claims are no longer subject to proceedings.
The conflict between the companies began in 2022. Then there were disagreements on the calculation of the cost of products.
In 2016, a contract was concluded for the supply of continuously cast billets, which are used for the production of wheels for railway wagons. "Ural Steel" undertook to supply from 200 to 430 thousand tons of billets annually. However, at the end of 2022, the plant did not receive the requested 30 thousand tons, which was regarded as a violation of the terms of the contract.
In 2023, Vyksa Steel Works began purchasing billets through spot transactions, which led to an increase in prices and losses. "Ural Steel" explained the changes in relations with the partner by difficulties in determining the price, since the contract did not specify a fixed cost for the billets. At the beginning of 2022, one of the quotations ceased to be published, and the parties agreed to use the remaining two, which did not suit the supplier.
At first, Vyksa Steel Works was able to convince the courts of its case, pointing to the dominant position of "Ural Steel" in the market. However, in February 2025, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal decided that the plant could not claim 6.4 billion rubles, since the agreement of the scheme with two quotations for 2023 was not proven.
On September 15, "Ural Steel" withdrew from the cassation appeal on the fine. As a result, the courts overturned all acts confirming the plant's right to payments from "Ural Steel".
Earlier www1.ru reported that the amount of lawsuits against the manufacturer of TOS-2 "Tosochka" reached 300 million rubles.
