Zaporizhzhia NPP under threat again?: Fer сплавна-1" backup high-voltage line damaged

The station is now powered by a single "Petrovskaya" line

The second reserve high-voltage external power supply line of the Zaporizhzhia NPP 330 kV "Fer сплавна-1", which has been disconnected for the fifth month, has been damaged. This was announced by the director of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Yuriy Chernichuk.

The location of the damage, according to our data, is on that side of the river (Dnieper). Whether it will be restored or not will be a decision of either some international agreement or that side.

The "Fer сплавна-1" high-voltage line was disconnected by automation on May 7, 2025. Now the Zaporizhzhia NPP is powered by a single 750 kV "Petrovskaya" line. If it is disconnected, diesel generators will be instantly started at the station to power the reactor cooling system pumps.

The last blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP occurred on July 4, when the station completely lost external power supply. Own needs were supplied from diesel generators. Soon the "Dnieprovskaya" line was restored, and external power supply was resumed.

However, on September 16, a fire occurred 400 meters from the tanks. The destruction of the reserve fuel may deprive the nuclear power plant of the last source of energy for cooling the reactors, which will lead to catastrophic consequences.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Zaporizhzhia NPP will be brought to its design capacity.
