Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of naval aviation, during command and staff exercises, practiced bombing ground targets at an aviation training ground in the coastal zone of the Pacific Ocean, the Ministry of Defense reported.
A mock enemy landing party was discovered in the area. Il-38 naval aviation aircraft were sent to search for and counter the landing forces, which carried out reconnaissance and bombing of the mock enemy landing party.
After the successful bombing, the crews practiced piloting over featureless terrain in the absence of ground-based radio navigation aids.

The Il-38 aircraft is designed to search for, detect, and destroy enemy submarines. It was developed on the basis of the Il-18D passenger aircraft.
