The production volume of Tu-214 aircraft is planned to increase to 20 units by 2028-2029. This was announced by the head of the Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov.
Sometime in 2028-2029, we will be producing 20 Tu-214 aircraft per year. I'm not talking about military aircraft – that's a separate matter. Russia is huge, and Russia needs aircraft that would allow our citizens to move from one end to the other, that is, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
At the beginning of this year, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, announced plans to start deliveries of Tu-214 aircraft in 2025. By March, the ministry clarified that the total number of orders for this model had reached 30 units. A significant event was the first flight of the Tu-214, assembled using Russian components. The flight took place in November 2024 and lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. Tupolev plans to conclude new contracts for the Tu-214 after 2027, despite current orders for defense needs. In addition, the possibility of reducing the crew to two people is being considered. Aeroflot will receive 11 aircraft of this model in the near future.
