The MAX application records from the device's camera every 5–10 minutes, even when inactive. This became known after a user noticed the camera working on the desktop version of the program.
The function was discovered by chance — the computer owner noticed the regular activation of the camera. The check showed that the recording takes place in the background, regardless of whether the application is open or not.
MAX is the official messenger for government services, available on iOS, Android, and Windows platforms. Previously, it was criticized for mandatory installation for certain groups of users.
The platform's press service denied this information, telling TASS that the messenger does not use the camera without the user's active action.
