The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (Register, RS) has issued classification documents for the high-speed passenger vessel "Evpatoria" of Project 23160 "Kometa 120M". This was reported by the press service of the classification society.
The hydrofoil (HF) was built as part of technical cooperation between the USC enterprises "SSZ Vympel" and "SZ More". The project was developed by the Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Vessels named after R.E. Alekseev, based on previous HF projects "Kometa", "Kolkhida" and "Katran". Technical supervision of the vessel's construction was carried out by specialists from the regional division of the RS.
The vessel has successfully passed mooring, sea and acceptance tests. During the tests, the seaworthiness of the vessel, its equipment and systems were checked.
The vessel will carry out passenger transportation in the Black Sea regions. The State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) accepted the HF "Evpatoria" in early June 2025 and leased it to a regional transport operator.
The length of the HF "Kometa 120M" is 35.2 m, width is 10.4 m, displacement is 74 tons, draft is 3.4 m, speed is more than 35 knots (65 km/h), engine power is 2 × 1066 kW, crew is 5 people, passenger capacity is 120 people, cruising range is 8 hours. The vessel will be able to move away from the place of refuge to a distance of up to 128 miles.
