The Russian market of road construction equipment is experiencing difficulties. This was reported by the industry association "Rosspetsmash".
In the first half of 2025, sales fell by 45.4% compared to the same period last year. The most affected segments were truck cranes with a drop of 54% and telescopic loaders, whose sales decreased by 86%.
The only area with a positive result was the sector of crane-manipulators. Their sales increased by 44%.
This market dynamic is influenced by high production costs, tough competition from cheap foreign equipment, mainly of Chinese production, as well as the deterioration of the financial stability of construction organizations. Russian manufacturers are facing the problem of excessive inventory at distributors of imported equipment, which can cover market needs for a whole year.
An additional alarming signal for the market is the expected increase in purchases of Chinese equipment before the indexation of the recycling fee, scheduled for the beginning of next year. This may lead to an even greater oversupply and negatively affect the financial situation of domestic producers.
