The Center for Artificial Intelligence Development under the Government of Russia has started its work

The CAID will collect feedback through "Gosuslugi" and develop measures to remove barriers in the development of AI technologies

The first session of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Development (CAID) under the Government of the Russian Federation took place in Russia with the participation of representatives of business and regions. The goal of the center is to coordinate the introduction of AI technologies in public administration and the economy.

The CAID was established in June 2025, and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko was appointed its curator. The session discussed mechanisms for a centralized approach to the implementation of AI, which will reduce costs and increase efficiency. About 10 solutions have already been selected for replication at the federal level, including services for geospatial analytics, document processing, and citizen appeals.

The center not only records opinions, feedback, and wishes from regions and businesses. Its functions, for example, include market analysis and the selection of effective solutions for replication.

One of the tools will be a federal digital platform for sharing best practices, which will be developed on the basis of the "Digital Region" portal of the Moscow Region. Regions will be able to use ready-made AI solutions from the catalog.

At the session, representatives of the regions shared their experience in implementing AI. In Tatarstan, neural networks help monitor the implementation of national projects, in the Sakhalin Region, AI is used in medicine, education, and ecology, and in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, in video analytics systems for transport and housing and communal services. Moscow is introducing medical AI services available to all regions.

Participants also identified challenges, such as a lack of capacity for data processing. The CAID will collect feedback through "Gosuslugi" and develop measures to remove barriers in the development of AI technologies.

The center is headed by Ildar Akhmetov, who stressed that the task of the center is not only analysis, but also the promotion of specific solutions for scaling AI in Russia.
