Malaysians become the first foreigners to test the Russian "Tourist Card"

The payment tool is available to tourists for paying for accommodation, transport and museums

Malaysian citizens were the first foreigners to test the new Russian payment tool — the "Tourist Card". It allows you to pay for accommodation, transport, museums and other services using remote replenishment.

One of the first to use the card was Senator Jaziri Alkaf during a visit to St. Petersburg for the SPIEF-2025.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the Malaysian tourist flow to Russia doubled in the first quarter of 2025. In response, the number of trips by Russians to Malaysia also increased. From July, the validity and duration of stay for electronic visas have been extended: up to 120 and 30 days, respectively. About 5 thousand people have already used the new format.

Trade between the countries is also growing — in the first five months of 2025, it increased by 40%, with exports from Russia more than doubling. Russia supplies fertilizers, oil, coal and mineral products to Malaysia. The supply of medicines and food certification are also being discussed.

The "Tourist Card" is a payment card for foreign citizens, launched in Russia in early 2024.
