Two-thirds of Russian companies found vulnerable to hacking

White hat hackers identified weaknesses in business security: trade and small businesses at risk

White hat hackers tested the resilience of 74 Russian companies to cyberattacks. In 60% of cases, they managed to conditionally stop the organizations' operations. For 67% of the attacks, no high qualification was required — the hacking took less than a day.

The most vulnerable was the trade sector: 83% of companies in this industry failed the tests. Manufacturing industries showed a similar result — 80%. Financial organizations were the best protected — only 25% of successful hacks. Small businesses were attacked most often (75%). Such companies usually do not have their own information security departments, which makes them a weak link. Large enterprises proved to be more resilient, but even there hackers succeeded in 67% of cases.

The main problems were vulnerabilities in the network perimeter, weak passwords, and errors in web applications. Often, hacks occurred due to data leaks or the use of public Wi-Fi.

The study was conducted by the "Cybertests" project with the support of the "Cyberus" fund. The testing lasted three months, and the attacks were carried out in a controlled environment.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian airlines are increasing investments in cybersecurity.
