Bulgaria will not be able to completely abandon Russian components at the Kozloduy NPP

It is impossible to replace all Russian-made components and units at the NPP with American ones

Bulgaria will not be able to completely replace Russian components and units at the Kozloduy nuclear power plant, despite attempts to find alternatives in the USA, the Czech Republic and other countries. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Sofia Eleonora Mitrofanova in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The station was built in 1974 using Soviet technologies and still depends on Russian equipment. Despite political efforts to abandon cooperation, Rosatom continues to selectively maintain the facilities.

Nuclear energy is a critical industry, and its stable operation requires not only fuel, but also precise matching of components. Attempts to replace without full technical compliance may reduce the reliability of the country's energy security.
