According to him, residents of the settlement are in safety on a hill until the threat of repeated waves is completely canceled. Earlier on Wednesday, the city recorded tremors with a magnitude of 7.9. An evacuation was announced in the settlement itself.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 87 occurred off the coast of Kamchatka. The governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov, called this earthquake the strongest in decades.

The Office for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring recorded a tsunami wave up to four meters high in Kamchatka. A wall collapsed in one of the kindergartens on the peninsula. At the time of the incident, there was no one there, no injuries were reported.
