The "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant" (KMZ) has successfully completed the repair and testing of a large batch of M500 type ship engines for the Ministry of Defense and the Border Service of the FSB. This was reported in the press service of the enterprise.
The star-shaped M500 marine diesel engine is the heart of the Navy's warships. These engines operate on small missile and small anti-submarine ships, on minesweepers, on border and customs ships - these are the ships of the fleet of power departments, the Ministry of Defense and the FSB border service.
M500 type engines are widely used on military and state vessels. These units are installed on many Soviet-built ships, including projects 1241 "Molniya", 1234 "Ovod" and 1124 "Albatross". In addition, M500 engines are used on modern ships of project 20800 "Karakurt" and minesweepers of project 12700 "Alexandrite".
