Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NEVZ, part of Transmashholding JSC) has announced plans to localize the production of traction motors. This was announced by the acting Governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar.
This initiative will allow the plant to complete the production stage of import-substituting locomotives.
From the point of view of mechanical engineering, we are interested in expanding and modernizing the large mechanical engineering projects that already exist here. As an example, I can cite the NEVZ plant, a locomotive manufacturer, which currently has a large program with about 30 billion rubles allocated to localize the import substitution of traction motors. This is actually the final stage in the localization of locomotives.
The implementation of this program will ensure the growth of serial production and will fully equip all Russian electric locomotives with modern domestic power plants.
