Russian tugboat "SB-738" arrives in the Caspian Sea for exercises with the Iranian Navy CASAREX-2025

The Project 22870 vessel is part of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy

The rescue tugboat "SB-738" (Project 22870) of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy has arrived in the area for a three-day exercise with ships of the Iranian Navy CASAREX-2025. This was reported by the Iranian agency Tasnim.

The ship was met by ships of the Northern Fleet of the Iranian Navy. The exercises are held under the motto "Together for a safe and reliable Caspian Sea".

The maneuvers will involve military personnel from the Iranian Navy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Iranian Law Enforcement Command, and the Russian Navy. Representatives of the Caspian states will act as observers.

"SB-738" was built by shipbuilders of the Astrakhan branch of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center for search and rescue operations. The ship has equipment to support distressed ships afloat and perform complex diving operations at depths of up to 60 m.
