Commissioning of new 450 MW power units at Neryungri SDPP in Yakutia may be postponed

"RusHydro" cites supply delays

The government is ready to postpone the launch of two new power units at the Neryungri SDPP from the beginning of 2026 to several months later. However, "RusHydro" itself insists on a more significant postponement — until 2028–2029, citing delays in the supply of turbines from "Power Machines" and lengthy installation work.

We are talking about the construction of capacities of 450 MW, which are critical to cover the energy deficit in the Far East. According to the "System Operator", postponing the deadlines will lead to a shortage of electricity in the Eastern power system — up to 3 billion kWh already in 2027.

In parallel, "RusHydro" is asking to increase the rate of return for Far Eastern construction projects from 12.5% to 14% and introduce advance payments to partially compensate for the increase in the cost of borrowed funds and equipment. According to analysts, this will increase the cost of capacity by 8 billion rubles per year.
