Scammers have started calling Russians posing as bank employees and persuading them to install a program on their smartphone for a supposed "security check" or "protection against hacking." In reality, this application gives attackers full access to the device, including mobile banking, contacts, and personal data. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Fraudsters may claim that the program is needed to diagnose a banking application or to protect against unauthorized transactions. In fact, such programs are remote access tools that are used to steal data and funds.
The bank never asks a client to install programs on their phone
Citizens are advised not to install unknown applications, not to follow suspicious links from SMS or messengers, and to always use licensed antivirus software on their devices.
