A bill has been submitted to the State Duma on the mandatory activation by telecom operators of services to block fraudulent calls. The document was prepared by Sergey Mironov, chairman of the "A Just Russia – For Truth" party, and Yana Lantratova, first deputy head of the faction.
The amendments propose changes to the law "On Communications". Operators will be obliged to provide subscribers with an automated service for filtering incoming calls and messages to detect and block fraud free of charge. The technical and organizational requirements for the system will be established by Roskomnadzor.
Mironov noted that the threat of telephone fraud continues to grow. According to him, it is difficult for many people, especially the elderly, to independently install filtering programs, so protection should be activated by default.
Lantratova added that the new measure will help reduce the number of fraudulent attacks, increase public awareness and strengthen confidence in digital communication channels.
