Group video calls have appeared in the domestic messenger Max — their duration and number of participants are not limited. The new function is already available to users: to start a conference, you need to click the "Calls" button at the bottom of the screen, select the appropriate option and share the automatically generated link with other participants. During the video session, a grid of participants is displayed, and there is also the possibility of screen sharing.
In the near future, Max will have a chat inside the video call, a function for delegating administrator rights, as well as options for selecting neural avatars, masks and backgrounds. This should expand the possibilities of interaction and personalization within group meetings.
Max is a digital platform from VK, combining a messenger, mini-applications, a chatbot builder, the GigaChat AI assistant and the OzonTravel travel booking service. The messenger already has audio and video calls, file transfer up to 4 GB, voice messages, money transfers to contacts, creating sticker packs and group chats. The application is included in the register of Russian software and is presented in mobile, desktop and web versions. From September 1, 2025, Max will become mandatory for pre-installation on all smartphones and tablets sold in Russia.
According to VK, in early July, the number of registered users in Max exceeded 2 million people. Earlier, at the end of June, the platform crossed the mark of 1 million users, 75% of whom are Android users, 23% are iOS users and 2% use the desktop version. The greatest activity is observed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Krasnodar.
