Мошенники используют онлайн-кинотеатры для обмана россиян

A new scheme by cybercriminals has already led to the loss of more than 340 thousand rubles

In Russia, fraudsters have become more active in deceiving Russians through online movie theaters, according to the cybersecurity company F6. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 40 Russians have fallen victim to this scheme, resulting in the theft of 343 thousand rubles.

The scam begins with the creation of a fake profile of an attractive girl who posts her photos on social networks. After getting acquainted, she invites a potential victim to watch a movie together on an online platform.

Next, the attackers send a phishing link to a site intended for iOS users, and for Android owners, they install malicious software that allows them to access incoming SMS messages. To start watching the movie, the victim must pay for a subscription, which starts at 100 rubles. Thus, the scammers gain access to the bank card details of their victims.

Since the beginning of 2025, the scheme with cinema at a distance has helped attackers deceive more than 40 people, from whom 343 thousand rubles were stolen. The average damage amounted to 8 thousand rubles
