Soviet S-200 SAM System Proved to Be the Main Barrier for American F-35s: Will Shoot Down at 300 km

The system is capable of detecting aircraft at a distance of up to 600 km

The Soviet S-200D long-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) still remains in service with a number of countries. The system is capable of confidently destroying even American fifth-generation F-35 fighters.

The S-200 is valued for its range of destruction of more than 300 km, its ability to detect large aircraft at a distance of up to 600 km, and to track targets such as ballistic missiles at an altitude of up to 45 km.

The V-880 missiles used by the SAM system can not only cover particularly long distances, but also carry large warheads weighing more than 200 kg and hit targets at altitudes of up to 40 km.

For example, in Iran, the S-200s have undergone a major upgrade aimed at eliminating the system's main drawback - insufficient mobility. Now they can use the new Sayyad 2 and Sayyad 3 missiles, created on the basis of the V-880.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the new patrol ship "Kholmsk" was launched.
