Footage has emerged online of an attempted interception by an anti-missile of the Patriot surface-to-air missile system (SAM) of a Russian Kh-101 air-launched cruise missile for Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers.
In the lower part of the video, the flare of a surface-to-air missile launched from the ground is visible. A characteristic cruciform silhouette of the Kh-101 long-range aviation missile appeared in the sky. The "flare" swept past it.
When both missiles flew out of frame, the sound of an explosion was heard. Whether the interception was successful is unknown.
Work on the creation of the Kh-101 missile began in the USSR. In 2012, the Kh-101 (in nuclear configuration — Kh-102) was adopted by the Russian army. Distinctive features of the Kh-101 are the presence of a jamming system and reduced radar signature.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the new patrol ship "Kholmsk" was launched.
