VVER-1200 generation "3+" reactors combine time-tested engineering solutions with the latest passive and active safety systems developed in accordance with international safety standards.

Rosatom added that VVER-1200 reactors are already operating in Russia and abroad — four units in Russia and two units in Belarus; this technology has also been chosen by partners in Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh and China.

An important aspect of the agreement between the parties was state export financing from Russia, which reduces the burden on the budget of Kazakhstan. The training of local specialists and the transfer of technology are also being discussed.

Rosatom presented optimal terms for the timing, localization and financing of production, ahead of Chinese company CNNC, French EDF and South Korean KHNP.
