"Perekrestok" is testing smart cameras to optimize supermarket operations

The computer vision system creates digital copies of products and helps improve their layout

Smart cameras from Yandex have begun testing in the Moscow supermarket-laboratories of the Perekrestok chain.

Based on computer vision technologies, the cameras not only record but also analyze visual information, creating a "digital copy" of the product in the sales area. The system helps optimize tasks for employees, taking into account priorities and workload.

Smart cameras form the infrastructure for systematic work with data on key processes — from operations and product placement to interaction with suppliers. The implementation of the technology in supermarket-laboratories is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.

The project is being implemented as part of Yandex Retail Tech, which offers its own IT solutions to third-party retailers.
