Обширный каталог открытых данных по физической географии представили в ВШЭ

New resource includes 27 sources of geodata, organized by seven key topics

Researchers at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) have announced the release of a new catalog of open data dedicated to physical geography. This was reported by the press service of the university's Faculty of Geography.

The catalog contains 27 resources with general geographic and natural geodata. The information is grouped into seven main topics: general geographic information, relief, hydrology, soils and vegetation, geology, climate and weather, and ecology.

According to Oksana Yudova, a leading analyst at the Faculty's Geodata Center, this catalog was created to simplify the work of researchers and students involved in geographic sciences, cartography, and GIS technologies. Access to various spatial data, such as information on weather stations, soil maps, and digital elevation models, has become an important part of their work.

Yudova emphasized that "data search and processing" is an integral part of their center's activities. Although the catalog was originally developed for internal needs, it was decided to make it available to a wide audience. Students and researchers will now be able to more easily find the necessary data for their projects and research.
