Details for special-purpose boats developed at KMZ

The plant presented a new technology for casting the propeller shaft bracket

Specialists from SCB-3 KMZ presented an innovative technology for the production of a propeller shaft bracket for a special-purpose boat. The boat is 49 meters long, 9 meters wide, and has a draft of 2.6 meters. On board there is a superstructure with a wheelhouse, as well as residential and technical premises.

The propeller shaft bracket is a large steel part, during the production of which there is a risk of defects such as burn-on. (Formation of local overheating and adhesion of molten metal to the walls of the mold).

To prevent such problems, the SCB-3 team developed a unique slotted gating system. It allows to weaken the flow of metal during casting, which protects the mold from overheating.

Thanks to this innovation, it was possible to produce castings without a single defect. All parts were successfully shipped to the customer on time. KMZ continues to develop its technologies, which allows the company to remain competitive in the market.
