Rosatom: Quantum computers will help identify fraudsters

Russia is among the six countries with quantum computers with 50 or more qubits

Quantum computers will help solve important tasks, such as combating financial fraudsters. This was announced by Rosatom Quantum Technologies.

Currently, quantum computing technologies are only beginning to develop, and so far they cover only a small number of tasks. However, experts believe that in 5-10 years, quantum computing will become widely used, and its advantage over traditional methods of solving problems will be obvious.

At the "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" conference, which took place in Nizhny Novgorod, Rosatom demonstrated a list of tasks that can be solved using quantum computing. This list summarizes the experience of using quantum computers in 11 different sectors of the economy, including the development of new drugs, solving engineering problems, and optimizing investment portfolios.

Also popular are tasks for detecting fraudulent and illegal transactions in finance, routing transportation and scheduling, modeling new materials, accelerating neural networks, and other tasks that have direct practical meaning.

Russia is among the six countries with quantum computers with 50 or more qubits. In addition, it was among the three countries, including the USA and China, that already use quantum processors on four key physical platforms.

Experts believe that Russia may become one of the first countries to introduce quantum computing into industry. However, this requires identifying tasks in which quantum computing will be significantly more efficient than traditional supercomputers.

Earlier it became known that Russia will launch apilot project to block fraudulent sites. They steal passwords and personal data of users. The system will operate in test mode until March 1, 2026.
