The Yandex team has announced a major software update for its Yandex Station Duo Max smart speaker. This was reported by the manufacturer's press service.
The device will now run on the new YaOS X operating system. This allows users to enjoy an improved interface optimized for watching videos and controlling smart home devices.
Among the innovations is the ability to customize the main screen. Users can add and remove application widgets, change the style of the clock and background screensavers.
The application menu has also undergone changes. Now the screen displays a "carousel" with videos, TV channels, and recently opened applications, as well as a list of all installed programs.
One of the key features of the update is the karaoke mode in the music player, which was previously only available on Yandex "TV Stations". Owners of "Station Duo Max" can now mute the singer's voice and sing along to the lyrics that appear on the screen. The catalog contains about 11,000 songs from more than 7,000 musicians.
The update adds an "endless viewing" feature. When one video ends, the next one starts automatically.
The smart home control capabilities have also increased. Now you can display video from cameras connected to the "House with Alice" application on the screen, as well as add widgets with sensor data.
In the coming months, the Yandex Station Duo Max will receive additional updates, including activation by gaze and facial recognition. This will simplify switching between accounts for family members. The Station Duo Max remains the flagship among Yandex smart speakers, offering a 10-inch touchscreen, powerful sound and Room Correction technology, as well as a built-in Zigbee module for smart home control.
