Details have emerged regarding the recentlaunch of the "Soyuz-2.1b" carrier rocket from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. Roscosmos stated that a certain spacecraft was launched into orbit in the interests of the Ministry of Defense.
According to information from open sources, the satellite placed into orbit was the reconnaissance spacecraft "Kosmos-2588." It reached an orbit of 464 x 481 km with an inclination of 73 degrees, and then took a permanent position less than 100 km away from the American military optical reconnaissance satellite USA 338 (2022-117A).
According to preliminary data, "Kosmos-2588" is currently at a constant distance from USA 338 (2022-117A) and is not taking any actions. The Russian side has not officially confirmed or denied this information.
