The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has proposed introducing a comprehensive ban on obtaining loans. It can be lifted through the "Gosuslugi" portal or in multifunctional centers (MFCs).
To lift the restriction, citizens will need to go through a certain procedure. They will need to answer questions about whether they are under the influence of third parties and whether they plan to transfer credit funds to anyone.
Igor Bederov, Director of the T.Hunter Investigation Department, called this measure reasonable. In his opinion, it will not be able to completely protect against social engineering, but it will help break ties with fraudsters and reduce the risk of theft of funds.
Alexey Voylukov, former vice president of the Association of Banks of Russia, is confident that banks will not face additional difficulties or technical problems in connection with the introduction of such a ban.
Thus, the new initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is aimed at protecting citizens from financial fraud. A ban on loans could be an important step in the fight against crime in the financial sector. The question is whether legislators will support it.
