Images of debris from the Iskander-M ground-based operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) supersonic missile have appeared online.
The Iskander missile can travel at a supersonic speed of up to Mach 4. The modernized version of the system is capable of accurately hitting targets at a distance of up to 500 km.
The complex is equipped with two main types of missiles: the 9M723 quasi-ballistic missile with electronic warfare modules for jamming and the ability to control the entire flight path, and the R-500 cruise missile, capable of automatically bypassing terrain.
The Iskander-M ammunition range includes concrete-piercing, high-explosive fragmentation, incendiary, cluster, and nuclear warheads. The missiles are guided to the target via a satellite system, and the homing head starts working on the final leg.
Iskander-M is used to destroy enemy air defense systems, as well as other critical facilities at a maximum range of up to 500 km.
