The two-deck passenger sea ship "Klavdiya Yelanskaya" (built in 1977) will be undergoing repairs starting June 27, which will last 45 days. This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Murmansk Region, Nikolai Mikhailov.
The repair will be carried out by Murmansk shipbuilders. This will be a routine maintenance of the vessel before inspection by specialists from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Prior to this, "Klavdiya Yelanskaya" was repaired in 2021 and 2024.
The passenger ship operates on the Murmansk-ZATO Ostrovnoy-Murmansk route. During the repair period, it will be replaced by helicopters.
Mi-8 helicopters with a capacity of 22 passengers and up to 2 tons of cargo are being used. The frequency of flights is currently planned to be up to three times a week, depending on the needs of the population of ZATO Ostrovnoy.
