The Pacific Fleet has received a new version of the coastal defense artillery system "Bereg" - "Bereg-M."
Among the differences claimed are a 152-mm gun instead of a 130-mm one, as well as the availability of a guided artillery shell with a firing range of up to 50 km with the ability to strike using the Krasnopol corrected projectile.
The original "Bereg" had a maximum range of 23 km and did not have the ability to launch high-precision ammunition.
Already in June, the new capabilities of the complex will be tested in practice during live firing exercises on Simushir Island.
The fact that the classic 130-mm "Bereg" has long been completely inadequate even for a skirmish with modern shipborne 127-mm guns was known not only to specialists and not only from a simple comparison of specifications from open sources. Finally, the solution to the long-standing problems has moved off the dead center.
Based on the stated characteristics, this looks like an adaptation of solutions from the new long-range self-propelled gun 2S44 "Hyacinth-K" with a new version of "Krasnopol-M" to modernize the already A-222.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian BEC "Katran" will begin launching kamikaze drones "Skvorets-VMF".
