After the adoption of the law providing for stricter penalties for data leaks and the introduction of turnover fines, the demand for information protection solutions from businesses increased by 40%. According to market participants, companies may invest up to 47 billion rubles in cybersecurity this year. However, by the time the law comes into force (end of May), businesses may not have time to implement new solutions, so demand for them will remain for the next two years.
In the next two years, Russian organizations plan to allocate additional funds to ensure cybersecurity. According to forecasts, in 2025, the volume of investments will amount to 47 billion rubles, and in 2026 — 58 billion rubles. Such data was provided by Stakhanovets, a company specializing in information security. The company's specialists explain the increase in expenses, including increased control over data processing. After the adoption of laws toughening the punishment for information leaks, the demand for data leak prevention (DLP) systems increased by 35–40%.
No company in Russia is protected from data leaks and insider actions. For example, 38% of resigning employees try to download databases of clients or partners. The main channels of leaks are messengers (35% of incidents) and corporate email (23%). In 15% of cases, information goes to the Internet, cloud storage, or file sharing services.
In Russian companies, information protection systems are still rarely implemented, notes Dmitry Isaev, CEO of Stakhanovets. This trend is confirmed by FSTEC statistics. At the end of last year, only 10% of organizations ensured a basic level of security. Therefore, when the bill comes into force, most companies will not have time to prepare. Because of this, the demand for data leak prevention (DLP) systems will remain high for at least two years.
Since the beginning of the year, businesses have also been actively seeking advice and legal services for auditing, especially in the field of personal data processing and protection.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Justice of Russia, together with other departments, are developing amendments to the bill on increasing fines for companies for personal data leaks. Mitigation of punishment is provided for if certain conditions are met.
