The installed capacity of the Saratov HPP has increased by 6 MW and now amounts to 1475 MW. This was achieved through the modernization of hydro unit No. 15. This was reported by the press service of the energy company RusHydro.
The new equipment has improved technical characteristics, increased reliability and a high degree of environmental safety. Installation work was carried out by specialists from AO "TYAZHMASH" from Syzran and AO "Hydroremont-VKK", a subsidiary of RusHydro. Currently, they are replacing the hydro turbine at hydro unit No. 16.
At the moment, 21 out of 24 hydro units have been completely updated at the Saratov HPP, which has already allowed increasing the station's capacity by 115 MW. The project to replace hydro turbines is scheduled to be completed in 2027. After that, the capacity of the Saratov HPP will increase to 1499 MW, which is 10% higher than the original figures.
