Check-in without a passport: a biometric system will be implemented in Moscow hotels before the start of the summer season

Each visitor will be able to choose: check in with a passport or use a contactless method

Russia is preparing to launch an innovative check-in system in hotels that will allow guests to do without a passport. The new technology based on the Unified Biometric System should be launched before the start of the summer season.

A biometric system is a special way of identifying a person by their unique physical characteristics. In the case of hotels, it is about recognizing a guest's face using special cameras. At the same time, each visitor will be able to choose - check in the old fashioned way with a passport or use the new contactless method.

The service will save guests from having to present paper documents, and will also increase the speed of customer service by automatically filling in data during registration.

Moscow will be one of the first cities in the world to have such a service. In the future, the biometric system will fully automate the check-in process, making it as convenient as possible for guests.

The security of the system is ensured by the fact that only citizens of the Russian Federation with confirmed registration in the Unified Biometric System will be able to use biometrics. This guarantees protection against fraudsters and the safety of personal data.

The project is planned to be scaled up after a successful launch in Moscow. In the future, the technology will be extended to other regions of Russia, where hotel owners will be able to implement a biometric system for the convenience of their customers.
