The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) held a flight-technical conference on April 18. The event was dedicated to the results of the investigation of the SSJ100 RRJ-95B RA-89098 aircraft crash. It happened on May 5, 2019 at Sheremetyevo Airport.
The conference was attended by representatives of Rosaviatsia and its territorial departments, the aircraft developer - PJSC "Yakovlev", as well as airlines operating RRJ-95 aircraft. The event was also attended by experts from the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Flight Safety Service of the Aviation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and other organizations.
During the conference, IAC specialists analyzed in detail the risk factors identified both during the investigation of the disaster and in a number of other incidents with similar scenarios. Based on domestic and international practice, measures were proposed to reduce the relevant risks.
As a reminder, on May 5, 2019, a plane crash occurred at Sheremetyevo Airport involving a Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane of Aeroflot. The plane was flying from Moscow to Murmansk. During the flight, the plane entered a thunderstorm front, which led to a malfunction in the electronics and the autopilot being turned off. The crew decided to return to the airport of departure.
During landing, there were several unsuccessful contacts with the runway. After the second impact on the runway, the landing gear struts collapsed, and after the third impact, a fire started. By this time, the landing gear struts could no longer withstand the load, which is not provided for by safety requirements for this type of aircraft.
The fire was caused by the destruction of the wing fuel tanks and fuel spillage. Fuel spilled both from the mounting points of the landing gear cylinders and from other parts of the wing.
Victims: out of 78 people on board (73 passengers and 5 crew members), 41 people died.
The causes of the disaster were:
- Uncoordinated actions of the aircraft commander during landing
- "Jumping" of the aircraft on the runway
- Lack of clarity in the operational documentation, where the actions of pilots when leveling the aircraft during landing are not clearly defined
- Incorrect assessment of the situation by the crew when the predictive wind shear alarm is triggered
A criminal case was opened on the fact of the disaster. In June 2023, the captain of the aircraft was sentenced to six years in a penal colony.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the developer of the SJ-100 and MS-21 proposed to reduce the time for exporting components abroad to a week.
