Esports in Honor of Victory: Rostec Held a Unique World of Tanks Tournament

1,600 Employees Decided to Pay Tribute to the Events of 80 Years Ago in a Virtual Battle

Rostec organized the first esports tournament in the popular online game World of Tanks, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The competitions were held on weekends and ended on April 17, the anniversary of the end of the Proskurov-Chernivtsi operation, an important stage in the history of the Great Patriotic War.

The tournament was attended by 1,600 employees from 150 Rostec organizations. Over four days of play, almost 70,000 battles took place, which underscores the high level of interest and activity of the participants. The prize fund was distributed among the 50 best players, which added extra incentive to fight for victory.

As a reminder, the Proskurov-Chernivtsi operation, conducted from March 4 to April 17, 1944 under the leadership of Marshal Georgy Zhukov, became one of the key moments in the Great Patriotic War. The success of this operation significantly brought closer the liberation of Soviet territory from the fascist invaders and became an important step towards final victory.

This approach to celebrating historical events through modern technology and esports allows not only to preserve the memory of the past, but also to involve a new generation in the study of history.
