Legendary Soviet M-46 gun began to be used in a new way: the dust of time is not a hindrance

The gun became high-precision thanks to receiving target coordinates from UAV calculations

The towed 130-mm M-46 gun of Soviet production has turned into a high-precision weapon thanks to its use in conjunction with calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

Having received the target coordinates from the UAV calculations, the artillerymen aimed the gun at the target and destroyed the enemy's strong point, disguised in the forest belt, with a series of shots with 130-mm high-explosive fragmentation shells.

The firing was conducted from a closed firing position at a range of over 17 km with constant fire adjustment by reconnaissance drone calculations, which made it possible to destroy the target with a minimum number of shots. After hitting the target, the artillerymen took refuge in a dugout and masked the gun.

Tactical and technical characteristics of the M-46 gun:

  • Initial projectile velocity — 930 m/s
  • Sighting range — 27490 m
  • Barrel length — 7150 mm
  • Weight — 7700 kg
