Секреты орбитальной станции РОС: Россия готовится стать лидером в космической гонке

Unlike the International Space Station, ROS will be able to function automatically

Russia is developing the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), which is scheduled to launch between 2027 and 2032. Evgeny Kuznetsov, General Director of the Digital Evolution Ventures venture fund and futurologist, emphasizes the importance of the project for the exploration of near-Earth space and the study of the Solar System.

The station will be located in a polar orbit to service satellites and monitor the Arctic and other regions. ROS will be able to operate automatically on its own between crew visits, reducing operating costs — this is the main difference from the International Space Station (ISS).

The station will test modern technologies, such as closed life support systems for water and air regeneration. ROS will create prospects for the development of the space industry, where materials, medicines and biopolymers will be produced in zero gravity, and satellites will be refueled and repaired to extend their service life.

The ROS project aims to develop technologies for lunar bases and flights to Mars. Researchers want to test systems for long journeys and creating sustainable infrastructure. This will strengthen Russia's position in the space race, including satellite networks, orbital stations and resource extraction on the Moon.

The creation of ROS marks the transition from scientific experiments to the industrial exploration of space. The station will become the basis for innovations that will allow humanity to go beyond near-Earth space and begin exploring the Solar System.
