«Atom» Russian electric vehicle completes «winter» chassis tuning

Special settings for winter driving «sewn» into the ABS and ESP of the domestic car

The company «Kama» has completed the calibration of the «Atom» electric vehicle chassis for operation in winter conditions. The refinement of the chassis included stages of calibration of safety systems and chassis tuning.

The first stage involves the selection of the most optimal characteristics of the elastic elements of the suspension (shock absorbers and springs), as well as rubber-metal hinges, anti-roll bars and steering.

The ABS and ESP complexes were calibrated — special settings for driving in winter conditions were «sewn» into them. The suspension, electronic active safety systems and steering were also refined.

The tuning was carried out during tests of pre-production prototypes and «mules»-aggregate carriers. «Mules» are the chassis of the «Atom», «covered» by a conditional re-welded body from a mass-dimensional analogue. 13 such working prototypes were built, with their help the future electric car was «taught» to drive predictably even without the help of electronic systems.

Further work began to be carried out as part of pre-production electric vehicles, which use their own «Atom» bodies. Currently, work is ongoing to calibrate the chassis for summer conditions.
