A new concept will appear in the legislation — civilian export weapons

The Russian government has approved a bill that introduces the term "civilian export weapons" (CEW). The decision was made at a meeting of the government commission on legislative activities. The main goal of the innovation is to facilitate the export of weapons produced exclusively for foreign markets.

In accordance with the bill, CEW will be defined as weapons created only for export and meeting the technical requirements of importing countries. To implement this initiative, it is planned to amend the current law "On Weapons" and Chapter 1 of the law "On Technical Regulation".

The bill will come into force on September 1, 2025. It has already received approval from various departments and organizations, including the Kalashnikov concern.

Experts note that the expansion of the technical characteristics of CEW compared to civilian weapons permitted for circulation in Russia is aimed at increasing its competitiveness in the international arena. This issue is especially relevant in conditions when the Russian civilian weapons market faces legislative restrictions and reductions.
