Avtotor Holding has started manufacturing a pre-series batch of new L7 category electric vehicles. This was announced by Alexander Sorokin, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the enterprise.
The novelty is intended for operation in urban conditions and is aimed at students, young families, urban services, car sharing and delivery services.
Sorokin noted that the uniqueness of the project lies in a comprehensive approach to import substitution. The weight of the car was reduced by using aluminum and polymers in its design.
The technologies used also help to optimize production costs, which makes the electric car more affordable for consumers.
All key components of the electric vehicle — engine, inverter, control systems, batteries — are developed and manufactured in Russia. Specialists from Moscow Polytech optimized the suspension, steering, and developed the CAN bus.
Modern IT technologies (3D modeling, virtual testing and digital twins) were used in the creation of the car. This made it possible to minimize the amount of expensive testing and speed up the development process.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the newest Atom electric car will go into mass production in July.
